The legendary India all-rounder is very much active on his social media accounts, especially Twitter. Irfan Pathan is currently with the Hindi commentary team for the ICC World Test Championship Final which is happening in Southampton, England. India is playing against New Zealand to become the first World champions in the purest form of the game.
Irfan Pathan Praises Virat Kohli; Gets Trolled And Then Responds
So far it has been really frustrating for the spectators all over the world as almost three days have been washed out because of rain. There is a sixth day especially for this occasion and the game has gone to the sixth day for any outcome. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and unsurprisingly decided to ball first.
Despite a solid start by the Indian opening pair, Virat Kohli’s team collapsed on 217 in the first innings. Mohammed Shami’s four wicket haul helped India restrict the Kiwis to 249. However, a lead of 32 proved vital when the Kiwis pace attack bundled out the Indian batting line up within 170. After skipper Virat Kohli’s dismissal, no one apart from Rishabh Pant made any real contribution. The game is now totally in New Zealand’s favour as they need only 139 to win in 53 overs.
Below is the Twitter exchange between the fan and the ex-cricketer turned commentator-
Is @IrfanPathan getting paid for doing commentary or is he getting paid to praise #ViratKohli? Chamchagiri ka ek Hadd hona chahiye. #WTC21final

So you don’t want me to praise the best player in the world??
— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) June 22, 2021
Irfan Pathan has been a key figure for India in test match cricket over the years. The Baroda boy made his debut as an 18-year-old in 2001. Then he had a famous tour to Australia wherein the second test at Adelaide in 2003, India made history by winning a Test match on Australian soil after 23 long years.
The former Indian cricketer was indeed considered the best all-rounder during his early days in international cricket. Pathan also made his debuts in the shorter formats in the game on the same trip. After that, he was one of the first names on the team sheet for Men In Blue under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni.
Not A Great Day For Team India And The Reaction Was Rather Expected From The Angry Fans; Irfan Pathan Gets Caught In The Crossfire
Pathan was a popular figure for all the IPL teams he played in his career. He played for Kings XI Punjab till 2010 before playing for the Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings. He was not lucky enough to lift the India Premier League like his brother Yusuf, who won it thrice. Former Indian all-rounder took commentary after his retirement and well. He is outperforming there too.
Pathan who is doing the Hindi commentary has received criticism for some good speech about India captain Virat Kohli. The 32-year-old icon scored 44 in the first innings but dismissed early again in the second.
A fan wrote on Twitter saying if Pathan gets paid for praising the India captain only because Kohli did nothing special in the game to get high praise as India are clearly on the back foot in the game. Virat Kohli has never won an ICC trophy as a captain for the national team as well. However, Irfan Pathan was quick to reply to that fan Tweet saying “So you do not want me to praise the best player in the world??”
The best player in the world according to Pathan’s words, Kohli has a serious job to do on the sixth day in the WTC final.
