Sixteen-year-old spinner Noor Ahmad became the hero of the match in the recently played PSL match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings when he single-handedly turned the fate of the game with his spell and led his team Karachi Kings to glory. The Afghan spinner awestruck every cricket fan with his mystery spin delivery that dismissed in-form Lahore Qalandars batsman Ben Dunk. Coming to bowl in the 11th over, the youngster struck on the last ball.
The unbelievable turn that the wrist-spinner gave to the ball, caught batsman Ben Dunk off guard and he was forced to give away an edge, getting caught at the slip by Babar Azam.
A Brilliant Delivery In The PSL 2021 Tournament
A video clip of Noor Ahmad’s mystery spin got shared on Social Media, due to its brilliance. The youngster is getting loads of appreciation and love from fans all over the world. The sixteen-year-old is being termed by many as the ‘next big thing’ of the Afghanistan Cricket.
Ben Duck’s dismissal was only the first of the two wickets that Noor Ahmad took that night. He also took the wicket of a dangerous looking Mohammad Hafeez batting on 36, who could’ve changed the face of the game, had it not been for Noor Ahmad’s brilliance.
Karachi Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. Coming in to bat first, they put up a decent score of 176/5. Karachi’s Babar Azam scored 54 off 44 and Martin Guptill scored 43 off 31. Lahore Qalandars’ bowling unit did a good job of restraining Karachi at just 176. Rashid Khan was their best bowler who picked up a couple of wickets at an economy of 6.25.
Coming in to chase, Lahore Qalandars got a good enough start through their openers Fakhr Zaman and Sohail Akhtar. After the fall of the first wicket, Md Hafeez came in to play a responsible knock of 36. Singaporean cricketer Tim David(33) and Australian all-rounder James Faulkner (31) also played good knocks.
What Was The Story Of The Game?
Lahore Qalandars did it all right, but Noor Ahmad’s spell was what ultimately made the difference. The youngster gave away just 19 runs in his four overs and picked up two wickets at an economy of 4.75.
Among the other bowlers, Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim picked up a wicket at an economy of 7.75 and also complemented Noor’s spell. In spite of having won this match, Karachi Kings have very meagre chances of qualifying for the knockout stages this season. They have been very poor this season. This pushed the team down the points table and is at present placed at fifth. They have eight points, only above Quetta Gladiators.
On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars are placed in the third position as of now. They have a total of ten points in nine matches. They are tied in points with second-placed Peshawar Zalmis and are behind by only the net run rate. The league stage of the PSL 2021 tournament ends today.
