RCB vs GT Result: Aakash Chopra has pointed out that Rajat Patidar’s attacking knock allowed Virat Kohli to take his time during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs. Gujarat Titans (IPL 2022) match on Saturday (April 30) afternoon.
Faf du Plessis was out early in the innings, and after Patidar scored 52 runs off 32 balls, he and Kohli put up a 99-run stand for the second wicket. Kohli, on the other hand, was more conservative at the crease. Thus, batting 53 deliveries for his 58 runs in the innings.
In a video posted on his YouTube account, Aakash Chopra discussed the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting performance. He was effusive in his admiration for Patidar, stating:
“At the start of the game, Faf du Plessis was dismissed with a score of zero. Rajat Patidar arrived and shined brightly. He was the uncapped Indian who ruled the roost, and he enabled Virat Kohli to be himself. That’s the truth of the matter. Kohli would not have been able to do what he achieved if he had not ran at 200 speed.”
The former Indian batter acknowledged that Kohli’s cautious approach was sensible. But he pointed out that RCB would have been in much more danger if Patidar had not pushed his attacking style to the fore. Chopra made the following observation:
“You can see why Kohli’s speed was sluggish. But it was not Rajat Patidar’s fault, and RCB might have paid a higher price if Patidar had not played in the manner in which he did. You can understand why Kohli’s pace was poor, but it was not Rajat Patidar’s fault.”
Patidar’s inning included five fours and two sixes. When he tried a paddle shot off Pradeep Sangwan’s bowling, he was caught by Shubman Gill.
RCB vs GT Result: “We were expecting Virat Kohli to accelerate,” Aakash Chopra said of the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s ability to score more runs.
As Aakash Chopra pointed out, Kohli was unable to accelerate when the team needed him to do so. He went on to say:
“Following that, the anticipation was for Virat Kohli to pick up the pace. But regrettably, the pace did not materialize, resulting in a strike rate of 109. When the acceleration failed to materialize, I began to believe that this squad would not make it to 190; even 170 seemed to be a stretch.”
The well-known pundit lauded Glenn Maxwell and Mahipal Lomror for leading their team to a competitive, though somewhat below-par, victory, saying: “They were a credit to their team.”
“Glenn Maxwell performed well, as did Mahipal Lomror, who received thunderous applause. He formerly played for the Rajasthan Royals and was selected by this team in the auction. Overall, you received a score of 170, which I considered to be a respectable effort. In reality, however, the score might have been 185-190 if the Royal Challengers Bangalore had batted a bit more aggressively.”
In response, RCB set a 171-run target for the Titans, with Maxwell (33 off 18 balls) and Lomror (16 off 8 balls) striking some lusty blows. Hardik Pandya’s team, on the other hand, won the match by six wickets as they chased down the target with three deliveries to spare.
