RR vs MI Result: An ecstatic Aakash Chopra has praised Suryakumar Yadav for his outstanding performance during the Mumbai Indians (MI) run chase against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday night in the Indian Premier League (IPL.
At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, RR set a 159-run goal for MI to chase down. The team led by Rohit Sharma won the match by five wickets with four deliveries still to spare, allowing them to register their first win in the present season of the Indian Premier League.
Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube channel that the five-time winners were in a bit of trouble when Ishan Kishan was dismissed after Sharma’s early dismissal. He went on to say:
“He scored 26 runs in the first innings, in classic Ishan Kishan fashion, and it was a good start. Perhaps it was a day when those who did not have the form, returned to form. There was a moment when I thought Rohit Sharma would also score, but he managed to get out and fall victim to Ashwin. When Ishan Kishan was dismissed, it seemed like the squad would be stranded.”
The cricketer-turned-commentator hailed Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma for guiding the Mumbai Indians’ run chase to a successful conclusion. He said:
“Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, on the other hand, were fantastic. Surya is my favorite player because when he shines, he dazzles everyone around him. He batted effectively against spin and was in complete command of the game.”
Yadav (51 off 39 balls) and Varma (35 off 30 balls) put up an 81-run stand for the third wicket to give the Mumbai Indians the upper hand in the match.
RR vs MI Result: “Can you tell me what’s going on with the Mumbai Indians this year?” Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra went on to say that MI came close to surrendering the lead when they seemed to be on their way to an easy victory. He made the following observation:
“After then, Ashwin was unable to take another wicket, and Yuzi Chahal was unable to take another wicket for an extended period, and it seemed like Mumbai would win the match comfortably. However, what exactly is going on with the Mumbai Indians this season? Why would you do something with difficulty if it can be accomplished easily?”
A special word of thanks went out to Tim David, who he said was instrumental in getting MI across the finish line. He went on to explain:
“When Surya and later Tilak got out, I had the impression that they had been stranded once again. Rajasthan re-entered the game at an unexpected point. Tim David, on the other hand, is a six-hitting machine. That is why the franchise spent Rs. 8.25 crores on him. He proved in the end that you made the proper decision with your investment. Unfortunately, your trust in your investment was lower.”
David was benched by the Mumbai Indians. This was after the big-hitting Singaporean failed to perform in the team’s first two IPL 2022 matches. The 26-year-old, on the other hand, demonstrated his skill by scoring an undefeated 20 from nine deliveries in the game the night before.
