Arsenal Transfer News: After keeping the right back Ivan Fresneda from a number of suitors in January, Real Valladolid has set their asking price for Fresneda at €30 million
Arsenal Transfer News: Ivan Fresneda may leave Real Valladolid for a transfer fee of €30 million, as reported by Fichajes. It’s possible that Arsenal will make another go at signing the right-back when the transfer window resumes in the summer.
Mikel Arteta wanted to acquire Ivan Fresneda, a defensive phenom who was only 18 years old when Arsenal came close to making it happen. The right-back was much sought after. But Real Valladolid battled hard to keep him and even asked potential suitors to let them have him until the conclusion of the season.
In January, Arsenal was looking to spend between €15 and €20 million for him, but he may suddenly be more expensive. Although Valladolid knows they will not be able to receive the full amount of his expensive release clause, they may be willing to settle for €30 million from potential bidders.

Arsenal Transfer News: What’s the matter?
As a potential long-term replacement for Kieran Trippier, Newcastle United is also interested in the defender. Arteta, meantime, sought him because of his playing style and maybe because he had skills that are a good fit for Arsenal’s present system.
It’s possible that they would have allowed the 18-year-old defensive phenom to finish the season with Valladolid if they had signed him in January. As he plays often for his Spanish team in La Liga, Arsenal has not stopped monitoring his progress.
What’s next for Ivan Fresneda?
It’s possible that Arsenal may try to get Fresneda from Valladolid this next summer. The Gunners have shown that they are willing to spend top dollar for elite players. Their readiness to accommodate requests is evident in the trades of Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White.
Fresneda has the right combination of physical traits and technical skills to thrive under Arteta’s tutelage. Throughout the summer, he may choose from a number of opportunities, but what he ultimately chooses will depend on his own personal goals for growth.
When it comes to right back for the Gunners, Ben White is presently the starter, with Takehiro Tomiyasu serving as the backup. Because of Fresneda’s possible arrival, Arteta may switch who of the two plays in the middle. The Gunners will need a deep roster as they will play in the Champions League next season.
