The Athletic reports that striker Mika Biereth has been sold to Arsenal by Sturm Graz for £4 million. Sturm Graz has established a new club record with this transfer cost. Arsenal also have a sell-on clause, which means they may cash in on Biereth’s future sales. During the 2023–24 season, 21-year-old Danish youth international Biereth was loaned out to Sturm Graz. His previous experience includes spending the first part of the 2017–18 season on loan with Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.
After netting 21 goals in 21 outings for Fulham’s under-18 squad, Biereth transferred to Arsenal in July 2021. But he was never able to crack Arsenal’s first squad and never played a game for them. Biereth was a standout for Sturm Graz despite his Arsenal troubles. He helped the team win the Austrian Bundesliga with nine goals and four assists in all competitions. Based on these results, Sturm Graz decided to stay put.
Club Set To Offer A Big Transfer Value To Sign This Arsenal Player
It was difficult for Biereth to gain a starting position under manager Mikel Arteta due to Arsenal’s abundance of talented attackers, such as Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Eddie Nketiah. The first-team coaches at Arsenal were unconvinced despite Biereth’s six goals and five assists while on loan at Motherwell.
This opens the door for Biereth to participate in Sturm Graz’s Champions League next season. Before this, he was impressive in the Conference League, where he made four appearances and scored three goals. He will be able to demonstrate his skills on a larger scale as a result of this transfer.
With aspirations of becoming a regular scorer for Arsenal, Biereth has drawn comparisons to a combination of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. Even if Arsenal won’t give him the opportunity, he might still develop into a top-tier striker. The sell-on clause in his deal means that Arsenal will gain if he ever gets a big-money transfer. The future of Biereth’s career is uncertain, but this move opens a new chapter for both him and Sturm Graz.
