Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares could soon be joining Lazio. Gianluca Di Marzio claims Lazio expressed interest in the 24-year-old for many weeks and agreed to sign him. Personal terms are no more a problem; this opens the path for the migration to take place. According to Di Marzio, Lazio will pay Tavares €5 million and provide Arsenal a sizeable sell-on price. Fabrizio Romano offers an other perspective, however. According to him, Lazio will initially loan Tavares season-long on a sell-on fee and required purchase clause.
Out Of Favor Arsenal Star Set To Leave
Since July 2021 he joined Arsenal from SL Benfica, Nuno Tavares has had a difficult time. His underperformance in his first season resulted in a loan to Marseille in 2022. Arsenal did not reintegrate him even though he did well there. Rather, they loaned him to Nottingham Forest for the 2023/24 season, when he battled for playing time and logged fewer than 700 minutes over 12 games.
Lazio presents Tavares with the opportunity to start his career once he has been wanting to do. Lazio needs a left-back, particularly given unknowns about Luca Pellegrini’s future. Tavares suited the Italian team well, hence they moved fast to get his talents.
Convincing Tavares to transfer proved the last challenge. Recent negotiations went smoothly; Tavares agreed to a five-year deal with Lazio. Official releases will clarify the transfer information, whether it is a loan with a required purchase option or a permanent transaction. Tavares could get the new start he needs with his transfer to Serie A. At Lazio, he will try to revive his career and realize the promise that drew Arsenal to recruit him initially. Although more will be revealed in the next weeks, Tavares seems to be headed off Arsenal for a fresh challenge in Italy right now.

Arsenal is ready to bring back former youth player Dan Bentley. They want him to be the backup goalkeeper for the next campaign. Mikel Arteta needs a dependable second-choice keeper, and Bentley—now employed at Wolves—fits the bill. Although Bentley turned down the initial offer from the Gunners, they want to come back with a higher offering. Arsenal needs a native goalkeeper to cover Aaron Ramsdale, who is seeking more playing time elsewhere. Last season, Ramsdale got little play; he made only 11 appearances after David Raya’s Brentford joining. Raya’s presence has sent Ramsdale down the pecking order and driven his want to depart.
Arsenal wants to have Bentley on hand as a backup and are getting ready for Ramsdale’s leaving. Bentley is known from his past with Arsenal’s junior levels. Though not cut back then, the club sees his potential today. Thanks to their past work together, Arsenal goalie coach Inaki Cana is fervent supporter of Bentley’s comeback.
Bentley appeals because of his familiarity with the club’s operations and his native player status. Teams in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League must have a certain count of homegrown players, so Bentley would assist Arsenal in reaching this target.
