A mix up between the wickets caused Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s dismissal in a silly run out. Kohli was playing a fabulous inning of 75 (180) when a bad call by vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane gave Australia the big wicket. As of now, team India has made 233/6 in 90 overs. Having won the toss, the Indian captain Virat Kohli elected to bowl first. Coming on to bat first, the men in blue got the worst possible start.
The Video Of Virat Kohli Getting Run-Out
Australian pacer Mitchell Starc dismissed young opener Prithvi Saw in the second ball of the match! Twitterati has started trolling Shaw for his poor 0 (2) performance in the meanwhile.
To begin with, there had been a lot of controversies and criticism regarding the team selection for the first test. Batsmen Shubman Gill and Rishab Pant, who had been in a tremendous form in the practice match against Australia A, have not been included in the team.
To everyone’s surprise, in form batsman, KL Rahul has also been dropped from the team. The 28-year old Mangalore born wicketkeeper-batsman had been in tremendous form in the ongoing Australia tour, and also in this year’s IPL.

He played many crucial knocks in Australia and contributed to the team’s performance. Although the Test format is completely different from ODI and T20, netizens believe that the opener should have got a start at least as an opener if not as a wicketkeeper.
The captain and the coach selected Wriddhiman Saha over Rishabh Pant behind the wickets. Although Wriddhiman Saha is a lot more skilful that Pant, many think that Pant could’ve provided India with an aggressive finishing.
India’s other opener Mayank Agarwal also failed to impress. He scored 17 off 40 balls, before being dismissed by Pat Cummins. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli then came in to control the innings. Pujara scored 43 off 160. After his dismissal, India’s vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane came in.

What Next For Team India Now?
The Virat-Rahane combination was looking lethal. They were making quick runs through their excellent chemistry in running between the wickets. Then came the Commentator’s curse. Just as everyone started to praise Rahane and Kohli’s running between the wickets, the vice-captain made a blunder. Rahane was facing Nathan Lyon while Kohli was at the non Striker’s end. Rahane made a wrong call after hitting the shot towards a fielder but then retracted to his crease. It was however too late for Virat Kohli. He had already crossed half the pitch and Australia got an easy runout.
The Indian skipper looked clearly frustrated at this silly dismissal. He was nodding his head in frustration as he walked towards the pavilion. The Indian fans have heavily criticized Rahane for his poor decision making, all over social media. A bit after Kohli’s dismissal, Rahane was also dismissed by Mitchell Starc after scoring 42 (92).
Currently, Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin are controlling the innings slowly and steadily. Ravi Ashwin is batting on 15 (17), and Saha on 9 (25). If these two can somehow take the score past 300, it would be a decent first innings score for India.
