The first test match of the historic series between India and England has started and the first day has been played. The hosts did not get much help from the pitch on the first day, as England captain Joe Root played a commendable knock of 128* off 197 and he remains to possibly threaten the Indian bowling unit on the second day as well. Indian skipper Virat Kohli kept his faith in Rishabh Pant as the wicket-keeper of the team.

After his tremendous match-winning (and series-winning) display at Gabba against Australia. The youngster had quite a tough day at their job on the first day of the test match as he had to put in more effort than many of the Indian fielders due to the selection of shots by the English batsmen. However, a terrific blunder on Pant’s part on one particular occasion has caused the youngster to be a troll all-over the internet.
Rishabh Pant is a complete entertainer from his constant chirps from behind the wicket. But he is never away from wicket-keeping bloopers. He also encourages the bowlers from time-to-time. The commentators also praised Rishabh Pant’s enthusiasm and energy behind the wickets.
However, his wicket-keeping abilities have always been questioned by fans, and rightfully so. Rishabh Pant’s wicket-keeping horror story continued on the first day against England.
Watch: Pant’s poor throw, which resulted in a costly overthrow
After dropping a tough leg-side chance of Rory Burns early in the day. The Indian gloveman had done fairly well throughout the day. But in the 73rd over, Pant was back to making an error behind the stumps like he often does. Root defended a ball, called his partner for a single but realizing Pant was in close proximity to the ball, decided to send back Dom Sibley.

The 23-year old wicket-keeper was quick to get hold of the ball, but then out of nowhere, he threw the ball blindly in a direction far away from the wickets. In fact, the ball even missed mid-on fielder Ravichandran Ashwin. The ball went towards the boundary for a four-run as there was no one to stop it.
If only Pant had aimed more accurately, English opener Dom Sibley would be in trouble and he could have even got the marching orders. The English batsman then went to play a fabulous knock of 87 off 286. Pant could have dismissed him a lot earlier. The runs scored by Sibley might prove to be game-changing.
Netizens were quick to react and Troll, Rishabh Pant:
Twitteratti has not shied away from trolling the wicket-keeper and making memes on him. Pant has also been called ‘wannabe MS Dhoni’, by many fans on social media.
