LIV vs EVE Live: John Aldrige Calls Lampard ‘Lucky’ To Coach Everton

LIV vs EVE Live

LIV vs EVE Live: Former Liverpool legend John Aldridge has indicated that Everton may come to regret their choice to entrust Frank Lampard with the responsibility of ensuring that they avoid relegation this season.

Anfield will welcome Everton in the Premier League this evening. The Reds are looking to maintain their unbeaten record. When Liverpool faces Everton, Jurgen Klopp and his team will be hoping to build on their 4-0 victory against Manchester United.

Everton pulled off a stunning surprise at Anfield last season. Thus, earning their first away victory over Liverpool in 22 years as a result of their performance. But a lot has changed at both clubs since Carlo Ancelotti guided Everton to a 2-0 win over Liverpool in the Premier League.

Liverpool is currently four points behind table-topping Manchester City. But a victory tonight would decrease the deficit to one point. Everton, on the other hand, is in danger of being relegated this season since they are just one point above 18th-placed Burnley.

What did he say about Frank Lampard?

Lampard, who took over as manager of Everton from Rafael Benitez in January, is in charge of ensuring that the team does not finish last in the Premier League this season. The Englishman’s abilities, on the other hand, are uncertain to Aldridge, who is skeptical of his abilities.

Lampard, according to the former Liverpool captain, does not deserve to be in charge of Everton. He believes that the former midfielder is fortunate to be on the touchline against Klopp. The following is what Aldridge wrote in his Sunday World column:

“Being Everton manager for today’s Merseyside derby at Anfield, Frank Lampard is a very fortunate young guy. I do not believe he deserves to be on the sidelines. In his time with Chelsea and England, Lampard was a terrific player. His goal-scoring record from midfield cemented his place in history as one of the greatest players in the Premier League’s history.

However, being a good player does not always imply that you are qualified to be a top manager. I’m certain that Everton’s management will be apprehensive about their choice to engage Lampard at this point in their history. With just seven Premier League games remaining, I don’t believe they have a manager who is capable of putting out the relegation fire that is engulfing them.”

Whether Lampard can prove Aldridge wrong by guiding Everton to a victory against the Reds at Anfield today is a mystery.

LIV vs EVE: Everton’s fortunes have shifted after their victory against Liverpool

Toffee’s former manager Carlo Ancelotti guided the club to 10th in the Premier League last season. The Italian tactician, on the other hand, departed them for La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

Everton, in an unusual move, had hired former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez to take over as Ancelotti’s successor ahead of the 2021-22 season. The Spaniard, on the other hand, failed to make an impact at Goodison Park. He was ultimately fired in January of this year.

A two-and-a-half-year contract with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was signed by the Toffees after his dismissal. At the time of the Englishman’s arrival, the Merseyside team was 16th in the standings. They were only four points above the relegation zone and looking to improve on that position.

Everton is now 17th in the Premier League rankings, one point above the relegation zone, three months after their season-opening win. They do, however, have a game in hand over Burnley, who are now in 18th position.
