RR vs DC IPL 2022 Update: Ravichandran Ashwin, the cricketer for the Rajasthan Royals, has shared some amusing tales from the last minutes of the enthralling game against the Delhi Capitals. After the first three balls of the final over went for three sixes, the off-spinner admitted that they contemplated reducing it to a baby over.
When the Capitals needed 36 runs to win off the final over of their mammoth 223, Rovman Powell appeared to be on the verge of pulling off the impossible. Against Obed McCoy’s first three deliveries, the West Indies batsman smashed three sixes in quick succession. The Royals, on the other hand, were able to escape with a 15-run victory.
What Ashwin said:
Ashwin shared the amusing exchanges that took place before and during the last over in a video that he posted to Twitter on Wednesday. He and his teammate Devdutt Padikkal admitted to having tense moments after each of Powell’s sixes was delivered. The veteran shared his thoughts:
“It was necessary to score 36 runs off the last over. You could be thinking about what transpired on the field. I’ll tell you what happened after that. My position at the short-third man was strengthened when Prasidh Krishna bowled his first wicket over. Devdutt Padikkal arrived beside Sanju Samson. I informed Padikkal that a short ball would put the game out of reach and allow us to take a rest. The opening ball of the over was hit for a six-wicket victory. ‘He can’t hit 36 runs, can he?’ Padikkal exclaimed as he approached the point.
I told him he couldn’t do it since six sixes in an over is very uncommon. The next ball was likewise a six. Padikkal appeared once again and said, ‘He can’t hit six sixes, can he,’. ‘I don’t believe he can,’ I answered. Meanwhile, when I was praying for a ball to be struck in mid-air, the third ball was hit for a six as well. After that, he came racing over and said, ‘Should we bring a baby over because I’m afraid he’s going to strike them.'”

There was controversy regarding the no-ball
The umpires did not deem the third delivery of the over as a waist-high no-ball, which sparked a heated debate in the final over, which was dramatic. After that on-field batsmen, Powell and Kuldeep Yadav expressed their dissatisfaction with the umpires’ decision. Rishabh Pant and the rest of the Capitals’ dugout voiced their disagreement with the call as well. Pant directed his players to leave the field. Coach Pravin Amre entered the stadium to engage in a heated debate with the umpires.

The contribution of Ashwin to the victory is worth remembering, even if Jos Buttler received the Player of the Match award for his century on the day. Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw were both dismissed by the Test specialist. He finished with figures of 4-0-32-2. Prasidh Krishna was the most impressive bowler, with scores of 4-1-22-3.
