MI vs GT IPL 2022: After having played for the Mumbai Indians for seven seasons, starting in 2015 and being a key component of their four IPL title wins, Hardik Pandya was released by the five-time champions for the 2022 season. After this, he was signed by the new entrants Gujarat Titans for a whopping INR 15 crore. He was also appointed as the team’s captain.
Hardik has said that he would want to have one of the Mumbai-based franchise’s players in Gujarat for the 2023 season, if at all feasible. The match between GT and MI took place on May 6. Among those taking part in the conversation is Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who played with Hardik in the Mumbai Indians and is also a close friend of Hardik’s older brother Krunal.
Hardik Pandya speaks out about his former Mumbai Indians colleague Kieron Pollard
“Polly (Pollard) should have the nicest day possible for him. But we should triumph. I sent him a message a few days ago, saying, “I hope everything is well with you and that you’re doing well. As I already said, we do miss you around here. ‘You never know, you could end up coming to us next year!’ I replied in a lighthearted tone. “It’s my dream, but I’m well aware that it’s never going to come true,” Hardik stated in a video uploaded by GT.
Pollard, on the other hand, has been discolored this season. Despite his impressive numbers, the Windies power-hitter has only achieved 129 runs from ten matches, an average of 14.33 runs per match, and a strike rate of 109.32 runs. His best score is only 25. He has also failed to make an impression in the wickets column. He has taken just three scalps to his credit thus far in the tournament. His team would now be aiming to make amends in the remaining matchups, as they look forward to capping off their season with a couple of more victories under their collective belt.
MI vs GT IPL 2022: What happened in the game?
Back to the current match, the coin fell in favour of GT captain Hardik Pandya. He chose to bowl first after the coin was flipped in his favor. Kieron Pollard has been named to the Mumbai Indians’ playing XI. Gujarat Titans lost the game against Mumbai Indians in a nail-biting final over.
The Brabourne Stadium was rocking on Friday. It seemed like the Mumbai Indians were in the midst of a battle as the action began. Pollard, one of the world’s best finishers, white-ball killer, and genuine T20 icon seemed to be a ghost of the force he once was in the middle of the field.
Tim David was one of the team’s most expensive acquisitions at the big auction. He has stepped up to take on the position that Pollard has played for more than a decade. When you think about it, you have to ask why he has only played four games this season. That is, when he might have easily played more. Remember that Mumbai only fielded three foreign players in one game and two in the other this season.
