Former India batsman, Mohammad Kaif commented on how David Warner’s innings helped the Delhi Capitals. The southpaw earned praise from Kaif for making use of his expertise and adapting his game to the circumstances.

Warner, who had a reputation as an aggressive player, switched positions to drop anchor during the pursuit and help his side cross the finish line. The seasoned player got his fifth half-century of the year with a score of 52 off 41 balls.

During an appearance on Sportskeeda Straight Talk, Kaif commended Warner for not rushing towards the goal. This allowed Mitchell Marsh to be aggressive and ultimately paid off in a significant way. The former batsman for the Royals thinks that the current Royals player, who is 35 years old, used his time well and tamed his aggressive side.

“Warner was able to utilize his expertise in the run-chase because of the needed rate of 8. The fact that there were not too many huge shots required. He allowed Mitchell Marsh to keep the majority of the strike. His bat was responsible for the most amount of sixes. Warner was aware of the importance of maintaining his wicket. So he played his cards carefully. It was not an aggressive knock. But it was a superb one because it demonstrated his expertise and showed that he played according to the circumstances.

I thought that was a phenomenal inning because everyone expects Warner to fly away and get a 50 or 80 off of 30 balls or 50 balls, respectively. It wasn’t quite a slap in the face. But it was really level-headed and responsible nevertheless,” Kaif said.

After KS Bharat was out for a duck off the second ball of the chase for 160, Warner and Marsh added 144 more runs to the total. The later batsman achieved his maiden fifty in the Indian Premier League and made the run chase seem easy. Marsh, who had numbers of 3-0-25-2 before scoring a 62-ball 89, was given the title of player of the match.

Kaif believes that Marsh’s presence has been a major boost to the Capitals. Thus, allowing them to comfortably settle in at number three. The 41-year-old believed that the fact that both Warner and Marsh are in form and contributing well with the bat is a wonderful indication. He stated his opinion as follows:

“Mitchell Marsh’s presence gives the impression that the Delhi Capitals are a formidable team. He bowls, which is helpful for Delhi since they had a hard time finding a number three player. Marsh had shown some of these characteristics in the past. But this was the decisive blow. At the auction, Delhi purchased him with the anticipation that he would play significant innings. The recent victory of Australia in the World Cup was also due in large part to the efforts of Marsh and David Warner. As a result, the fact that both of them are strong players who are now in good form and who are playing those huge innings at the appropriate moment is a positive in favour of Delhi.”

The Capitals are still in fifth place in the points chart even though they won their sixth game this past Wednesday. For them to have any chance of making the playoffs, they will need to win all three of the matches that are left on their schedule.
