Arsenal News Transfer: It has been claimed that Everton and West Ham United have joined Sevilla in their pursuit of the transfer of Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe. He is expected to be moved this summer
Arsenal News Transfer: According to Fichajes, Everton and West Ham United have shown interest in acquiring the services of Nicolas Pepe, a striker currently playing for Arsenal. In the hunt to sign the Ivorian, though, both of these teams will have to contend with opposition from Leicester City and Sevilla.
In the summer of 2019, Pepe completed a club-record move from LOSC Lille to Arsenal. However, after three years of his contract, the winger has not been able to justify the significant investment. He has been mainly inconsistent during his time with the club.
What’s the Matter?
The international player from Ivory Coast has fallen out of favour with boss Mikel Arteta. He had little playing time during the last campaign. This summer, Arsenal wants to boost its offensive unit by signing a new player. Therefore they are prepared to cash in on one of their wingers in the process.
Pepe has been the subject of attention from Leeds United as a possible replacement for Raphinha. Although, Luis Sinisterra has been added to the roster. Now Everton and West Ham United are also competing to sign the Arsenal winger before the transfer window shuts. Everton is now in second place, while West Ham United is in third place.
Richarlison, Everton’s talismanic forward, was traded to Tottenham Hotspur in a transaction that was for £60 million. Thus the club is looking to make some new offensive players. The Toffees are unable to make significant signings this summer due to the financial difficulties they are currently experiencing. Therefore, a move for a player like Pepe, who may be available in a bargain-basement deal, would be an interesting possibility to consider.
Will the Gunners be successful in signing him?
Because of their over-reliance on Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in the final third, West Ham United are trying to strengthen their offensive unit by adding additional firepower to their attacking team. The acquisition of a new centre striker is at the top of David Moyes’ to-do list. He is now negotiating contracts with Armando Broja and Gianluca Scamacca. Pepe would become a feasible target if, at the same time, another wide attacker was brought in to replace Andriy Yarmolenko.
In addition to Everton and West Ham, La Liga powerhouses Sevilla are interested in signing the exiled winger from Arsenal. Leicester City is also keeping an eye on the circumstances regarding the player’s future. As his contract with Emirates Athletic Club comes to an end this summer, it will be very intriguing to watch where the Ivory Coast international winds up playing next season. It would seem that there is no lack of teams interested in signing him.
