Rohit Sharma, captain of the Mumbai Indians, will not play against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Suryakumar Yadav captained the squad in the absence of MI’s regular captain. However, Rohit Sharma is not a regular starter. He was already on the sheet as one of the impact subs when the squad entered the field.
However, the MI captain is still involved in the game as a substitute and might return if his health improves. However, Surya will remain captain if Rohit returns to the field, as per the Impact Player guidelines.
While Suryakumar Yadav claims he has the stomach flu, Rohit Sharma was seen out on the field talking strategy with the MI coaching staff. His presence among the reserves is additional evidence that the Mumbai Indians’ captain has no cause for fear. With the World Test Championship final coming up soon, his absence may be a simple matter of workload management.

Speaking at the toss, stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “Rohit is out, he has a stomach bug.”
The MI captain is being extra careful so that he can play whenever India needs him during their current injury crisis. The Hit-Man has been plagued by injuries over the previous several years. But the space in his schedule allows him to recover and return to action in top form. Rohit has travelled with the team and is available to provide SKY instructions from the bench.

They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen,” Rohit had said after the 3rd ODI in Chennai.
