T20 World Cup 2026: The ICC prides itself on hosting a transparent and fair tournament, once a year at least. Whether it is for the men or women, all tournaments are really competitive and hosted with a lot of pride. To add to that, the idea is to create a spectacle for the fans to enjoy each and every time.
While the ICC has a strict policy against match fixing and any tempering of the game, some idiots speak random nonsense just for clout. And it gets annoying when these are former players and even legends of the game at times.
Imagine the likes of Inzamam ul Haq and Saqlain Mushtaq spewing rubbish on Social Media platforms and Sports channels, just to attract eyeballs. Do such grown men and masters of the game need to do that!? Yet they do it anyways.
Is there any logic to this madness!? Probably not. But the fanbases start following and spewing the same nonsense that their so-called idols do.
T20 World Cup 2026: The Saqlian Mushtaq Debacle!!
Is attracting views and making a fool out of passionate fans the necessity of the day!? Is this why we call these players, “LEGENDS”!?
🚨 SAQLAIN MUSHTAQ URGES ICC TO PROBE WI–SA ENCOUNTER 🚨
SAQLAIN 🗣️- This pitch was flat, and despite that, West Indies delivered an extremely poor batting performance.
– Several West Indies batsmen got out playing reckless shots, it’s unusual because wickets were falling… pic.twitter.com/hhLQUNpgWQ

Now, if this was some random clown on the internet, trying to make a name for himself; it made sense. But this was a Legend of the game, asking for such a probe by making a huge claim. And it spiraled into a frenzy with the fans suggesting match-fixing allegations on anyone and everyone. What started with the West Indies vs South Africa match, eventually found its way onto the India vs Zimbabwe match too!!
This really needs to stop for a number of reasons. Firstly, the ICC and every cricketing body under it, tries to ensure that there is no match or spot fixing. Next, all member nations try to play to win. No one wants to lose for any reason.
Making such claims is as good as defaming the team and players that play for the badge. That too, just because results don’t go in your favour. And Mushtaq’s comments set an unwanted trend on Twitter and other Social Media platforms!!
Why The ICC Needs An Additional Team Of Lawyers!?
Such LEGENDS of the game which are ICONS should appreciate what Cricket has given them. Rather than making such STUPID claims, time and effort can be spent on doing an in-depth analysis rather. The ICC should utilize an extra set of lawyers to sue any former players or Pundits, who challenge the integrity of the game.
It makes total sense if someone calls out underperforming teams or players. But suggesting that they are throwing away games so that other teams benefit, makes no sense at all. It’s honestly an abuse to the passion and commitment of any team that plays at the international level. And the funny part is, that too coming from a host of Pundits and YouTubers/Influencers that has been at the epicenter of match-fixing in the first place.
In 2023, it was chips in balls and different balls. Some time back, it was springs in bats. And now this. When will this madness end!? However, it’s not totally Saqlain bhai’s fault. At the end of the day, he had weak knees and a host of surgeries!!
