Tottenham Or Manchester City? FC Barca is eager to offload some of their fringe players in the current transfer window. That is as they face a financial crisis due to the pandemic and the new regulations implied by La Liga. The club wants to progress and move ahead. However, the restrictions are constraints that they need to abide by.
With that being said, the Catalonian side is looking to get rid of some of their players on really high wages. Antoine Griezmann is on top of that list as of now. The club has already tried to offer him to Atletico Madrid and Juventus. So far, they have had no success in selling him.
What Is Barcelona Trying Now In An Attempt To Offload Griezmann?
The eagerness of the Spanish side is such that they seem desperate to get rid of the player. That is, in order to register some of their other buys. The likes of Memphis Depay has already taken a pay cut. Still, things do not look financially stable at the Camp Nou at present.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona is now trying to sell Griezmann to a Premier League side. They have apparently offered him to Tottenham and Manchester City. With the recent incident that sparked controversy, the player will find it tough to stay in Spain, at least at Barca.
With that being said, the only solution for him to have a welcomed stay is to move on. Both the clubs are looking for more attacking options. Spurs haven’t really signed anyone yet though they are considering their options. On the other hand, City needs more quality players with regards to their ambitions of winning the Champions League.
This could make the France international a target of both these sides. Manchester City can offer him Champions League football for the upcoming season. The north London outfit does not have that luxury. However, with Nuno coming in as the new boss, they could do well in the league too.
Should The Frenchman Join Manchester City Or Tottenham?
With Barcelona’s Japanese sponsors threatening to pull out and not renew, the club is desperate to sell the player. There is no doubt that Griezmann wants to play for a team that actually wants him. He will not want to be sitting on the bench for Ronaldo Koeman, with the World Cup coming up.
There is always an option to move to the Premier League. However, his major concern would be the wages and the pay-cut that he would have to take to be signed now. His wages are just too high and that makes it tougher for the clubs to sign him. Keeping that in mind, these deals could be done only if he is ready for such conditions.
The player wants to play football and wants to feature for France next year. So, it becomes essential for him to leave Barcelona and settle down at a big club and fast. That could be either Manchester City or Tottenham if they are serious about adding players. There is no doubt that Griezmann can be a big-match player. Will a big club buy him though, remains to be the doubt!!
