Euro 2020: Five Players Every Euro Fantasy Team Must Have For The Semifinals

The shocks provided in both Euro 2020 round-of-16 and the quarter-finals have had a massive impact on fantasy football. Belgium and Sweden crashed out in the quarter-finals, fantasy owners are now left with very limited popular picks going into the latter stages of the tournament.

Five free transfers are now available as we head into the semi-finals of the Euro 2020, giving room to be flexible when it comes to selection.

Here are five players that every fantasy manager should have in their teams for the Euro 2020 semifinals:

1) Lorenzo Insigne vs Spain

Being a nailed starter in Mancini’s starting XI throughout the tournament, Insigne has earned 22 points in four matches, which is more than any of his teammates. Playing an integral part and scoring the match-winning goal against Belgium in the quarter-finals, Lorenzo will be on the hunt to get another against a vulnerable Spanish defence who have conceded four in their last two matches. As Italy lock horns against Spain on the first day of the semi-finals, Insigne also makes a standout captain choice in this Azzurri side.

2) Ferran Torres vs Italy

The upcoming Manchester city Spaniard has been directly involved in three goals for Spain in Euro 2020, scoring twice and assisting once in just 2 starts. Having an xG(expected goals) of 1.23, Ferran will be one to watch for attacking returns, fantasy managers won’t have to worry about him not starting as they will be able to see Enrique’s lineup before the deadline. With Italy’s LB Spinazzola out with injury, Torres will be looking to capitalize on that and dominate the right flank. Owned by 22%, he is likely to be captained by many as Spain will be looking to get their third final in four Euros.

3) Harry Kane vs Denmark

Finding his form when England needs him the most, is their talisman Harry Kane who bagged one goal against the Germans in The Wembley and a brace against Ukraine, sending England into the semifinals. The 27-year-old, who had a world-class season with Tottenham will be looking to continue his form going into the game vs Denmark.

Just two goals behind Cristiano and Schick who have been eliminated, Kane will be looking to get the golden boot. That is, as he sets his eyes up against the underdogs, Denmark. Starring on the matchday seven of the Euros, Kane should be heavily captained as he now is the highest owned player in the game.

4) Joakim Mæhle vs England

Arguably the most value for money player throughout the tournament. Priced at just £4.9m the Atalanta man has been the complete package. He has done everything for his team. From getting defensive clean-sheets to scoring and assisting and getting attacking returns.

Accumulating 28 points so far, the attacking left-back is a no-brainer. That is when it comes to having a defender in your fantasy team. As Denmark goes up against England, Joakim can prove to be risky. Despite that, a thought-worthy differential captain. Especially for those who are looking to climb up the ranks in their mini-leagues.

5) Luke Shaw vs Denmark

Despite not featuring for England on matchday 1, Shaw still is the defender which has secured the most points. With 33 points to his name already, he will be looking to get more on both ends of the pitch.

That is, just like he did vs Ukraine. Registering two assists to his name and an England shut-out, helped him get a total of 12 points in one matchday. It is the most by any defender. Shaw now has three assists over the course of the tournament. He has been creating the most number of chances for his nation with an expected xA of 1.57(expected assists).
