Missing MS Dhoni? An incident on the last day of the first Test match between India and England at the M Chidambaram Stadium left Twitterati in splits when the bails got dislodged mysteriously. Some fans hilariously called it ‘Dhoni’s spirit’ that was working at his second home while some said it was WWE’s John Cena (referring to ‘you can’t see me’).
The Incident That Left Twitter In Splits, Making The Fans Miss MS Dhoni
The incident took place in the 57th over of the fourth innings. India – already down having lost Virat Kohli and Shabaz Nadeem – were only one wicket away from defeat as Jofra Archer ran in against Ishant Sharma. Archer bowled a short ball to which tall Indian pacer employed his typical, deep inside the crease defence. However, by the time Jofra Archer completed his follow on, the wicketkeeper and fielders close to Sharma saw the bails dislodged.

Assuming, Ishant Sharma was responsible for the bail and stump position- which was pretty much not in place, the English players started celebrating. However, with Ishant Sharma stunned and just for confirmation, the umpires went upstairs.
Once the third umpire started replaying the clips, he found that it wasn’t a hit wicket but the bails had fallen off even before Sharma could employ his defence. Third umpire Chettithody Shamshuddin asked on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Anil Kumar to term the delivery a dead-ball.
How Twitter Reacted To The Whole Incident, Poking Fun And Having A Laugh
However, Twitter picked on this incident and then the weirdest reactions started pouring in. The fans just had a good laugh due to this crazy instance, which was unique in itself. Nothing goes left out these days, as Social Media covers it all and talks about everything.
One user said that it was former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni’s spirit responsible.

Some Cricket Fans Had More Fun With A John Cena Theory
Another one went on to say that it was John Cena and hence we couldn’t see you had dislodged the bails. It was just so much fun for the fans. However, not so much fun for Team India, as they lost at home to England.
“@JohnCena was standing behind the bails & it’s all done by him #INDvENG ”
“The bails falling off mysteriously before the ball is bowled with the 11th man Ishant Sharma at the batting crease reminds me of the dialogue from welcome-” even the pyre is calling out for the dead body!” #INDvsENG_2021 #JoeRoot #jimmyanderson Congrats! @englandcricket,” one user said.
Even after Ishant Sharma survived, it was only a matter of few balls. That was before Jofra Archer claimed the last wicket on the Indian line-up handing Virat Kohli and company a 227 defeat. England stands 1-0 ahead in the series. This marked as India’s first loss at home since in 2017, Pune against Australia.
