It was clear from the replays that Jadeja was clearly seen calling for the catch but it was a little too late as Shubman Gill came tumbling into the experienced allrounder. However, what could have been a very horrible mishap ended up in a clean catch taken by Jadeja who held his composure and shrugged off the impact of the collision with Gill.
What Next For Team India Now As They Have An Advantage?
In the first Test, the India team dropped several catches which came back to haunt them in the second innings. So when the collision happened a lot of Indian cricket fans were expecting the repeat of the same thing. They were having nightmares from the first match at Adelaide. However, Jadeja, who is considered as one of the best fielders in the world showed his class. He held onto a tough catch.
The Saurashtra all-rounder then gave a cheeky smile towards Shubman Gill. The debutant was aware of the mistake that he has done. It is the early nerves that the youngster from Punjab faced in the field. As the game went on he calmed himself down and took a great diving catch. This time to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne and handed Mohammad Siraj his first wicket in Test cricket.
Recently an incident like this was seen in Bangladesh T20 cricket where former Bangladesh captain, Mushfiqur Rahim was clearly angry with the level of fielding shown by a certain fielder and it was twice in the game that Rahim threatened the player and also showed actions as if he was about to throw him a punch. It was a totally similar incident with what happened today there also Rahim somehow managed to hold onto the catch.
However coming back to the Boxing Day Test, the Indian bowlers have done their job. They bundled out the Aussies for 195 with Bumrah picking four wickets. Ashwin got three scalps. Debutant Siraj got a couple of scalps. Jadeja bagging the last wicket of Pat Cummins.
