Australian Speedster Gives A Massive Compliment To Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is also one of the best timers of the cricket ball besides being a prolific run-scorer. Fans often call him a ‘gifted’ player. It seems like Rohit always has a split extra second while playing his shots. However, Rohit’s limited-overs career fully changed when he became the opener of the Indian Cricket Team. He reached greater heights after starting to open in the national colours.

Rohit Sharma has become one of the mainstays of the Indian batting line up as the years rolled by. The Mumbaikar has played some of the most memorable knocks including three ODI double centuries. He has played for the national team in 224 ODIs, 108 T20Is, and 32 Tests so far and has amassed over 14,000 runs.

Rohit has one unique quality on the cricket field. He is very calm and relaxed. He effortlessly plays the big shots with a swagger attached to it. Rohit even became the top scorer in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He smashed five centuries in the tournament at a breathtaking average of 81.

Australia’s pace bowler Josh Hazlewood talked about how elegantly Rohit Sharma hits the boundaries during his knock. He feels that Rohit’s humongous records, especially in limited-overs cricket, testifies the class he possesses.

Hazlewood feels that Rohit Sharma never looks to smash the deliveries

“He has got many. I think it is just with how the ease that he plays, especially anything back of a length, anything short, just puts it away with such ease. It is just an area in which he gets better, I think. He never looks to bludgeon the ball, just pure class and elegance. His records, especially in white-ball cricket, is phenomenal,” Australian quick sid on Star Sports’ Cricket Connected.

When he got the question of whether Rohit’s grace and effortlessness become the annoying point for the bowlers. Hazlewood affirmed that the Indian opener is one of the frustrating ones to bowl to.

“Yeah, absolutely. I mean the batters through our time, obviously are the frustrating ones to bowl to. Even when someone who came quicker like Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins’ bowling to those guys, it doesn’t seem fast and that is probably the one thing that sticks out when you are bowling to these types of players,” added Hazlewood, who has played for Cricket Australia in 51 Tests, 48 ODIs and seven T20Is.

IPL To Come Back Soon?

It was recently confirmed that the BCCI had shortlisted Mumbai and the UAE as potential venues to host the IPL. This was decided after it seemed that the latest edition of the Indian Premier League might be cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

However, The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BBCI) did not want that to happen. Due to that, they were focused on having a single venue for the entire tournament. With Sri Lanka and New Zealand considered a potential option, it seems that the committee will choose either of these now.

The tournament has a lot of money at stake. Due to this, the BCCI and the ICC will want to conduct it at any cost. However, which venue will eventually host it, remains to be seen.
