Jimmy Neesham bowled bizarre delivery to Steven Smith
At the same time in the historic game between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, allrounder Jimmy Neesham bowled a bizarre delivery to Australian batsman Steven Smith. Rajasthan Royals batsmen Sanju Samson and Steven Smith were trying to chase humongous target set by Kings XI Punjab. Neesham was trying to deliver a slower ball but his execution got wrong so ball land in the half-pitch of the bowler and bounced incredibly high. Smith didn’t expect such comical delivery so he couldn’t hit it over the boundary. He has directed the ball to deep backward square leg for just a single. Smith couldn’t hide his amusement about the strange delivery and couldn’t stop laughing. By that single, he completed his fifty in just 26 balls.
Even all commentators looked surprised by such freakish delivery. Former English batsman and commentator Kevin Pietersen remarked, “ We have just seen one of the best bits of fielding ever, I think I have just seen one of the worst balls in T20 cricket”.As in the same innings Punjab batsman Nicholas Pooran showed an unbelievable piece of fielding to save six on the boundary rope.
Royals chased mammoth target against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020
Royals chased a gigantic target of 224 runs in 20 overs set by Punjab with help of classic half-centuries from skipper Steven Smith and Sanju Samson with final burst by allrounder Rahul Tewatia. Smith scored 50 runs off just 27 balls and Sanju Samson scored 85 runs off just 42 balls. Samson scored four boundaries and seven humongous sixes in his innings. But it was innings of Rahul Tewatia who turned the match in both directions at different times. He first scored very slow and then launched five sixes in an over of Sheldon Cottrell to win the match for his team. It was the highest ever chase in the IPL history.
Rajasthan is yet to lose any game in this season of IPL and will play against Kolkata Knight Riders today. They are ranked in the first position in the points table of IPL. As IPL is progressing, We hope we will get to see many nail-biting finishes.
