Rishabh Pant Hits A Huge One Handed Six Off Sam Curran’s Delivery

Rishabh Pant Hits A Huge One Handed Six Off Sam Curran's Delivery

Rishabh Pant hit a sensational one-handed six during the second ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune

Rishabh Pant finally got his opportunity to play in the ongoing ODI series between India and England. He was in show during the second ODI against England after sitting out of the team in the first ODI. India was once in a dangerous situation after losing well-set captain Virat Kohli. The Indian score was 158 for 3 after 32 overs at that stage when Rishabh Pant walked into the crease to join KL Rahul.

When England dismissed Pant, he had already shifted the momentum to India’s favour by then, as India raced to 308 for the loss of 5 wickets at the 47th over. He played a fiery knock of 77 runs of 40 balls. His innings included three fours and seven huge sixes. Pant scored his half-century in just 28 balls.

It was Pant’s first ODI game since February last year. He got an opportunity to play in this match due to Shreyas Iyer’s absence due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the last match. He made full use of the chance he got by scoring a quickfire half-century. Pant will be hoping that this knock finally brings his ODI career back to life.

Although Pant hit seven huge sixes during his innings, his one-handed six off Sam Curran‘s bowling caught the attention of all. Curran tried to deceive Pant with a slower delivery on the third ball of the 46th over. However, he could not land it in the perfect spot that he would have wanted and that was enough for Pant to hit him for a six.

The ball was outside off and it was a slower delivery. Pant backed his skills and power and threw his hands at it. His one hand came off the bat but his power was enough to take it over the fence.

What happened in the second ODI between India and England

Coming to the game, India scored 336 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. KL Rahul scored a century ( 109 runs off 114 balls) band Rishabh Pant ( 77 off 40) and Virat Kohli (66 off 79) scored half-centuries each. Chasing the total, England secured a comfortable win against the hosts.

Roy and Bairstow yet again stitched together a quickfire hundred runs partnership for the first wicket. The duo scored 110 runs in just 84 deliveries. Rohit Sharma provided the breakthrough with a superb bit of fielding to run out Jason Roy. Ben Stokes then joined hands with Bairstow and took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners. They scored 175 runs for the second wicket before India dismissed both of them in quick succession.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the partnership between them by dismissing Ben Stokes for 99. Stokes scored 99 in just 52 balls. His innings included four fours and ten sixes. Just after adding two runs, Bairstow lost his wicket to Prasidh Krishna after having scored 124 runs. After 3 balls, he castled Buttler’s stumps with a peach of a yorker.

Jonny Bairstow was the highest run-scorer of the innings scoring 124 runs off 112 balls. His opening partner Jason Roy scored 55 runs off 52 balls. Ben Stokes came in and scored 99 runs off 52 balls. When they lost three wickets in close succession, Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone guided them to a 6 wickets victory with 6.3 overs to spare. The series is now nicely poised at 1-1, with the series decider at the same venue on March 28.
