Chennai Super Kings are on a terrific run of winning games once again as they beat table-toppers Royal Challengers Bangalore by 69 runs. It is now four wins in a row for MS Dhoni’s side who are now sitting at the top of the Indian Premier League standings with a healthy net run rate of +1.612. Dhoni may not be contributing heavily with the bat so far but his presence and leadership are proving to be unmatchable at the moment.
MS Dhoni’s Instructions Paid Off In The Match As Always
MS Dhoni chose to bat first at Wankhede and got another solid first innings score of 191/4 courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja’s 28 ball 62 not-out. Jadeja scored 37 in Harshal Patel’s final over which literally gave his side a big advantage on a challenging afternoon game. In response, RCB made a flying start of 44 in the first three overs but then the collapse started with Virat Kohli gone early. Jadeja picked three crucial wickets along with a brilliant run out to send Daniel Christen back to the dressing room.
MS Dhoni was continuously giving instructions to Jadeja of where to ball from behind the stumps in Hindi when the likes of Glenn Maxwell and AB De Villiers were on the crease. Jadeja picked up both of their wickets early with his orthodox left-arm spin. After ABD’s dismissal, RCB’s star bowler Harshal Patel comes out to bat.

Dhoni jokingly saying “Ab Hindi Me Nahi Bol Sakta Hun” (can’t speak in Hindi anymore) as Harshal is an Indian. Jadeja could not hold his laugh after that. It was surely one of the best performances from Ravi Jadeja in his whole IPL career as he himself accepted it in the post-match conference. The 32-year-old also joked saying it was not his day in the field as he did not take any catches in the game.
What Ravindra Jadeja Said About The Game Which He Dominated?
“No, I do not think so. Enjoyed a lot, when you contribute to your team in a winning match, it means a lot. I have been working a lot on my fitness, skill and everything else, luckily, it paid off today. It is tough as an all-rounder, you will have to do well in all departments – while training, I do not do all the three things (batting, bowling and fielding practice) on the same day.”
“I work on my skills one day and my fitness on the next day. That is how I manage my workload. I was looking to hit hard in the last over, Mahi Bhai told me he (Harshal) will be bowling somewhere outside the off-stump and I was ready for that. Luckily, I connected with everything and we managed to reach 191, which was crucial over from our side. I knew I had to score some runs if I do get on strike. Today was not my day (on not getting a catch), but I did get one run-out (laughs), I am happy with that.”
Captain MS Dhoni Was Full Of Praise For His Star All-Rounder And Said The 32-Year-Old Is A Natural Game Changer-
MS Dhoni’s remarks after the game, “He is (Jadeja) somebody who can change the game on his own. We have seen that significant change with the bat and in the bowling as well. It is good to give him that extra opportunity. The extra few balls where he can express himself. It is also important that the individual grabs the chance when you make a decision like that. He has done that so far.”
