ISL Report- Bengaluru FC won an important match against FC Goa by a margin of 2-1 on Friday. It was a huge victory in terms of Bengaluru FC as the hosts moved up to the second position in the League table of Indian Super League (ISL) this season. FC Goa is still at the top of the table with 21 points in 11 matches so far. However, ATK can touch them tomorrow if they are able to beat Mumbai FC in the away match.
The head coach of Bengaluru FC, Carles Cuadrat fielded his side with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was in the Goal for the home side. Rahul Bheke and Nishu Kumar were there as two side-backs for Bengaluru FC in this match. Alberto Serran and Juanan were there at the central defence. Erik Paartalu and Harmonjot Singh Khabra were playing as two central defensive midfielders. Udanta Singh and Ashique Kuruniyan were there at both the wings. Dimas Delgado was playing just behind the lone centre forward Sunil Chhetri.
On the other hand, the head coach of FC Goa, Sergio Lobera has also come with 4-2-3-1 formation. Mohammad Nawaz was there under the bars for FC Goa. Mandar Rao Desai and Seriton Fernandes were there as two side-backs. Carlos Pena and Mourtada Fall’s pair in the central defence were given a chance in this match. Lenny Rodrigues and Ahmed Jahouh were there as two defensive midfielders. Brandon Fernandes and Jackichand Singh were there as two wingers. Hugo Boumous was playing as the second striker just behind Ferran Corominas.
Bengaluru FC started the match with a defensive mindset. They were trying to hold the attackers of FC Goa and relying on counter-attacks. On the other hand, FC Goa was in the attacking mode from the very first moment of the match. They were playing a free-flowing fluid football throughout the whole 45 minutes. However, they were not able to utilize the opportunities came in their way and it was their biggest drawback in this match. The head coach of FC Goa, Sergio Lobera would certainly lament about the scoreline after the first half. The first half ended with a scoreline of 0-0 at Kanteerava Stadium.
Manuel Onwu replaced Udanta Singh at the beginning of the second half. Bengaluru FC shifted to a formation of 4-3-3 in the second half. They were looking like a rejuvenated side altogether. They deservedly got the lead at the 59th minute of the match as Sunil Chhetri headed the ball perfectly towards the goal from the corner taken by Dimas Delgado.
FC Goa came back in the match with a brilliant goal of Hugo Boumous just after two minutes. It was a perfect team goal for FC Goa. Onwu was taken off by the head coach of Bengaluru FC and he introduced Haokip in the field. Sunil Chhetri scored the winner for the home side as the 84th minute of the match from the pass provided by Ashique Kuruniyan. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Bengaluru FC at Kanteerava Stadium.
