ISL Update- Bengaluru FC eased past Jamshedpur FC at Sree Kanteraava Stadium to move to the second place in the League table in this season. They have collected 22 points in 12 matches so far and now they are only two points behind FC Goa who are sitting at the top. ATK are in third place with 21 matches, but they have one more match in their hands. So, the battle of finishing at the top of the table after the end of League stage has begun.
The team who will be at the top of the table after the end of the League stage this season will get the chance to play directly in the AFC Champions League. All these three teams have an equal probability of achieving that.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC have stayed at the sixth position in the League table with 13 points in 11 matches so far. Their chances of finishing in the top four will decrease more if they can not secure a win in the next game.
The manager of the home side, Carlos Cuadrat has fielded his side with a usual 4-2-3-1 formation. He has made several changes in the starting lineup of Bengaluru FC and those changes have worked for his side. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has been there under the bars for the home side. The pair of Alberto Serran and Juanan have been chosen in the central defence. Rahul Bheke and Nishu Kumar have been deployed at both flanks in the defence.
Dimas Delgado and Erik Paartalu have been playing as two central defensive midfielders. Muhammed Ashique Kuruniyan and Sunil Chhetri have been deployed at both wings. Harmonjot Singh Khabra has been playing just behind the lone centre forward Manuel Onwu.
On the other hand, the head coach of Jamshedpur FC has fielded his side with a typical 4-4-2 formation. Subrata Pal has been there under the bars. The pair of Tiri and Memo have been chosen as the central defensive pair. Jitendra Singh and Narender Gahlot have been deployed at both flanks in the defence. Airor Monroy and Amarjit Singh Kiyam have been playing as two central midfielders while Noe Acosta and Farukh Choudhary have been deployed at both wings. Gourav Mukhi and David Grande have been playing as two centre forwards for the away side.
Bengaluru FC took the lead in the match at the eighth minute when Erik Paartalu’s header has struck the net from the corner taken by Dimas Delgado. The first half has ended with a scoreline of 1-0 in favour of Bengaluru FC. Bikash Jairu has replaced Jitendra Singh at the beginning of the second half for Jamshedpur FC.
Sunil Chhetri has doubled the lead for the home side at the 63rd minute of the match. The captain has followed the long ball provided by Erik Paartalu. After receiving the ball, he has rounded up the goalkeeper and placed the ball perfectly into the net. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-0 in favour of Bengaluru FC at Sree Kanteraava Stadium on Thursday.
