Only two points separate FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC on the Indian Super League table. A win in this match will ensure Juan Ferrando’s men climb up to the third position below ATK Mohun Bagan. It will also be an excellent chance for Jamshedpur to snap up the away game and overtake FC Goa and Hyderabad on league standings. Fatorda Stadium, Goa will host the matchday 12 fixture.
Team selection:
FC Goa
SC East Bengal held the Goan outfit to a 1-1 draw at home which Ferrando wanted his side to win. He may bring in some changes into the squad to ensure a different result than their last match. They had 19 shots with 9 being on target against SC East Bengal but their only goal came about in the dying minutes of the game in the 81st minute. Igor Angulo led a comeback for Goa last time the teams met in the league.
Angulo will start the match and is one of the key players for FC Goa. There will be eyes on Ortiz as well who is going to feature on the midfield alongside Romario and Brandon Fernandez. Bedia and Lenny may start as the defensive midfielder duo supporting the backline. Juan Ferrando entrusts his shot-stopper Nawaz and is probably set to pitch a similar defensive half to the match against SC East Bengal. Gama, Ivan Gonzalez, Donachie, and Seriton Fernandes will form the defence.
Jamshedpur FC
Owen Coyle’s Jamshedpur has failed to win their last match when they faced Kerala Blasters. Jordan Murray’s quick double cancelled out Valskis’ brace to put Jamshedpur in dismay. Coyle realizes that his team has the potential but has been inconsistent as they sit fifth in the league table.
They could not capitalize and protect their lead against the 10-man Kerala Blasters. The manager shall outsource the attack to Aniket Jadhav, Nerijus Valskis, and Jackichand Singh. Alex, Aitor and Mobashir Rahman is the probable midfield for Jamshedpur tonight. Renthlei may replace Lourenco in the right-back position as the only change in the defensive half. Rehenesh will stand between the post.
Tactical battle between FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC:
Both the sides have been yearning for a win since their last fixtures. FC Goa’s draw saw them dominate the possession with a margin of 67% and lodge a number of threats towards the goal. On the other hand, the match between Kerala and Jamshedpur was well contested. They were 32 shots registered which were equally divided. Kerala edged Jamshedpur with their more number of shots on target.
FC Goa may start with their traditional 4-2-3-1 formation with a lot of attacking onus with Brandon Fernandez and Angulo connecting with Ortiz. Coyle will have to hack the 1-2 passes between the midfielders to break the jockey of play.
Goa has more head to head wins over Jamshedpur with the Goan outfit winning six times to two times. Only one draw prevailed between the teams. FC Goa is the favourite going into the match but Jamshedpur may pull off a brilliancy with their attacking trio. Jamshedpur will commit to a 4-3-3 formation and Coyle hopes his side can grab the three points to make their way into the top four.
