Christopher Deshun Jones, drafted by the Chiefs in 2016, plays as a defensive tackle for the NFL team. He played college football at Mississippi State.
Chris Jones: family
Raised in a family of five, Chris was the oldest child and took care of his two younger sisters in his parent’s absence. His love for football began as a child, but he only had the opportunity to pursue it once he played in high school. Chris played for the Hilltoppers at Houston High School in Houston before committing to play college football at Mississippi State University in 2013.
Jones has accomplished so much in his career, making his father proud. He picked up some of his father’s behavioral traits while spending time with him as a child. Jones Sr., who worked as a furniture builder, missed out on much of his son’s childhood due to a DUI arrest and jail time when Chris was in fourth grade. Though a caring father, Jones Sr.’s job took a toll on him physically. Despite this, Jones has displayed youthful exuberance throughout his career, which he may have inherited from his father.
When Jones Sr. was in prison, Chris and his two younger sisters relied solely on their mother, Mary. She managed family matters well until her husband’s return. Jones Sr. was released from prison during his son’s high school years, having missed a significant part of Chris’ childhood. Despite this, the two of them have maintained a strong father-son relationship to this day.
Jones was fortunate to have a mother with a winning mentality. Despite the challenges they faced after her husband’s arrest, Mary Woodhouse was determined to ensure that her children’s dreams were not affected. She encouraged them to stay focused on their goals and continued to send them to school. Her unwavering support helped raise her son and daughters into reliable individuals. It wasn’t easy for Mary, and she and her children lived in different places until her husband’s release from prison. Nevertheless, she is a strong woman who has overcome many challenges.
